Chicken Teriyaki Sandwiches

Chicken Teriyaki Sandwiches are an easy lunch to make. The main ingredients for these tasty sandwiches include grilled chicken and pineapple. You can eat the grilled pineapple in its own right or add it to the sandwiches. To serve them as a sandwich, you need to prepare the rest of the ingredients. Start by soaking lettuce in cold water. Then, dip chicken in potato starch. Use a tea strainer to remove excess potato starch. Rendering fat takes about 8-10 minutes and the remaining chicken should be left in a bowl.

Notes

The chicken should be cooked through and the skin should be crispy. The fat renders out from the skin, while the skin changes texture when it absorbs the teriyaki sauce. You can add an over-easy egg to the sandwich to give it a more flavorful and delicious taste. The fried egg can be served on the top bun to make it more substantial. This delicious lunch or dinner is sure to satisfy everyone in the family.

Tips for making Chicken Teriyaki Sandwiches

Chicken Teriyaki Sandwich
Toasted buns, melted cheese, and teriyaki-glazed chicken – the ultimate combo.

Cooking Tips

  • Marinate for Flavor: Marinating the chicken is crucial. Allow it to marinate for at least 30 minutes to infuse the meat with that delightful teriyaki flavor. If you can, marinate it longer or even overnight for an even more intense taste.
  • Grill to Perfection: When grilling the chicken, make sure your grill is preheated to medium-high heat. Brush the grates with oil to prevent sticking. Grill each side for about 6-7 minutes, but always use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption.
  • Don’t Forget the Cheese: Adding a slice of Swiss cheese during the last few minutes of grilling adds a creamy and savory touch. Close the grill lid to let it melt over the chicken.
  • Pineapple Perfection: Fresh pineapple slices are a must for that sweet and tangy contrast. If you want a slight char, you can grill the pineapple for a minute or two on each side.
  • Toast for Texture: Toasting the burger buns gives your sandwich a delightful crunch. It also helps prevent the buns from getting soggy from the teriyaki sauce.
