Alternative Preparation Method: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Fudge in the Microwave

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Fudge
Cutting into creamy, chocolatey goodness. Learn the art of making the perfect fudge

  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chip cookie dough pieces (store-bought or homemade)

  • Prep the Pan: Start by lining an 8×8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides. This overhang will make it easier to remove the fudge later.
  • Microwave the Chocolate Mixture: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and unsalted butter. Heat this mixture in the microwave in 30-second increments, stirring each time, until the chocolate and butter are completely melted and smooth. This should take about 1-2 minutes.
  • Add Sweetened Condensed Milk: Stir in the sweetened condensed milk and microwave the mixture for an additional 30 seconds to ensure it’s well combined.
  • Incorporate Vanilla: Gently mix in the pure vanilla extract, adding a lovely depth of flavor to the fudge.
  • Fold in Cookie Dough: Carefully fold in the chocolate chip cookie dough pieces. Be sure they are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  • Pour and Set: Pour the fudge mixture into your prepared baking dish, smoothing it out with a spatula for an even surface.
  • Chill: Place the dish in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until the fudge is set. You can also speed up the setting process by putting it in the freezer for about 30-45 minutes.
  • Slice and Serve: Once your fudge has solidified, use the parchment paper overhangs to lift it out of the dish. Place it on a cutting board and slice it into bite-sized squares. Enjoy!

A pinch of sea salt – the secret to balancing sweetness in your fudge

Cooking Tips for Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Fudge

  • Use Quality Ingredients: The quality of your fudge depends on the ingredients you use. Opt for good quality chocolate chips, pure vanilla extract, and your favorite chocolate chip cookie dough.
  • Low Heat When Melting: When melting the chocolate and butter, use low heat. High heat can lead to the chocolate seizing, which can ruin your fudge.
  • Stir Frequently: Whether you’re melting the chocolate or combining all the ingredients, stir frequently to ensure even melting and mixing.
  • Chill the Fudge: Allow the fudge to set properly. A minimum of 2 hours in the refrigerator or around 30-45 minutes in the freezer is necessary. This helps the fudge achieve the right texture.
  • Homemade Cookie Dough: If you’re using homemade cookie dough, make sure it’s eggless and safe to eat raw, as you won’t be baking it. This is especially important if children will be enjoying the fudge.
